RTK setup & requirements

An RTK workflow uses a supported external GNSS receiver and correction information. The phone hosts the application; the external receiver supplies the corrected position and quality information.

This page helps you define the required setup. Receiver connection and capture instructions must match the hardware, firmware, and application deployment validated for your project.

Before you plan fieldwork

Confirm RTK availability for your Geova deployment and obtain its supported-device instructions. A generic Bluetooth connection or an “RTK Fixed” label alone does not establish a validated survey workflow.

ItemWhat to confirm
Application and accessApproved Android build, enabled workspace, and assigned operator access
ReceiverValidated model, firmware, antenna configuration, and supported connection method
CorrectionsThe approved correction source and how it reaches the receiver
CoordinatesHorizontal reference system, units, reference frame where required, and coordinate epoch where applicable
HeightsHeight type, antenna setup, and any required transformation or geoid information
OutputThe receiving system and how it retains coordinate and quality evidence

How the information moves

  1. A known base or correction service supplies corrections to the rover through the configured method.
  2. The receiver provides its position, solution status, and quality information to the supported Mapplex deployment.
  3. The capture workflow checks the configured quality conditions before accepting an observation.
  4. The project retains the coordinate context and survey evidence needed for review and handover.

Correction delivery may itself need connectivity. Offline field collection and offline correction availability are different requirements; verify both for the site.

Expected result

Before deployment, you have an agreed receiver configuration, coordinate context, capture criteria, evidence format, and field verification procedure. Confirm the setup against suitable control or reference observations for the intended work.

What this does not establish

Phone-only positioning is not RTK. Receiver compatibility, absolute accuracy, and suitability for a particular survey depend on the validated system and field conditions. Preserve the measurement evidence rather than relying only on the displayed solution label.

If your setup is not confirmed

Record the receiver model, firmware, Android device, application version, correction arrangement, and intended output. Discuss the field setup with Geova before choosing the deployment workflow.
